Junior Wallabies finalise World Championship preparations

The Junior Wallabies have continued their preparations for the World Rugby U20 Championship, defeating the Australian Barbarians 94 nil on Wednesday night at Chatswood Oval.

The fixture, which is has now become an integral part of the national sides preparation ahead of the World Championship allows the side to test their system and structures against the Barbarian outfit.

The squad will now return to they Sydney Academy of Sport where they will look to finalise preparations before they depart for the World Championship on Tuesday.

A near full-strength Junior Wallabies side managed to leave the Barbarians scoreless throughout the match, heading into the break ahead 33-nil, allowing them to continue to test their systems against an unpredictable opposition in the second half.

Will Harrison again finished the night on top leading the point-scoring with 12 points, while Ben Donaldson closely followed with five successful conversions in the second half.

Lachlan Lonergan, Sione Tui and Joe Cotton all managed to score two tires each with a host of other try scorers and a penalty try saw the squad made up the 94-point margin.

Junior Wallabies Head Coach Jason Gilmore said: “Its really good to be able to have this hit out against the Barbarians this year.

“Being able to get valuable game time like this before we head over to Argentina is always good, it allows us to test our systems and some set piece work against a live opposition.
