The sold-out sign has gone up at Suncorp Stadium, with a bumper crowd expected ahead of the first Test between the British & Irish Lions and Wallabies in Brisbane.

The 52,500 capacity stadium is set to be filled as fans fill the city in anticipation of the opener on Saturday, delighting Wallabies captain Harry Wilson.

“It's amazing. It's one of the best stadiums in the world and to see it sold out is super exciting,” Wilson told reporters.

“I guess we expect it to be sold out with the amount of fans coming from overseas and plus the rugby public here. Everyone's been so excited for this event for quite a while and now that it's here, it's going to be awesome.”

'Lions Mania' has been felt in Brisbane, with a plethora of Lions jerseys filling the CBD as a large majority of the 40,000 travelling fans descend on Queensland.

A fan zone has opened at King George Square, where both the Wallabies and Lions players are meeting fans and signing autographs in the build-up.

It's the epicentre of a week-long celebration of the Lions, with lunches with Lions and Wallabies legends held across the local Rugby clubs, with a darts event with Matt Giteau, Justin Harrison & Simon Shaw closing out the festivities on Sunday.

“You just need to walk around the streets and see at the moment, you see red jerseys everywhere and you see a bit of gold too, which is really nice to see,” Wilson said.

“It's something which a lot of us, besides probably Slippy and James [O’Connor], have been a part of it but we haven't ever had that and it's really exciting.

“We love seeing rugby being talked about, it's a game we all love playing and it's coming at a really good time for us here in Australia."

The focus for the Wallabies remains on the 80 minutes on Saturday, heading in as underdogs against a Lions side unbeaten on Australian soil in 2025.

"There's so much chatter about rugby at the moment and everyone's got an opinion. Thousands of people over here will have their predictions, so that's just another one for us, and the only thing we can control is what we've done during the week and what we're going to go out there and do tomorrow night," Wilson added.

"As a young footballer, these are the situations you want to be in versus the British & Irish Lions at your home track. It's amazing and I just can't wait to enjoy the moment with 22 other people I love playing footy with, and we've all got each other's backs and I can't wait for it."
