A proud, softly spoken Fijian, Daugunu is a former national soccer youth international. He played goalkeeper for the national U17s, aged just 14 and 15, but gave the game away in 2015 to pursue a career in rugby.

Not surprisingly, Daugunu was an instant hit. In his first year he represented Fiji U20s and the following season spent time in the Fijian 7s program. He moved to Australia in 2017 and later joined the Queensland Reds setup after a blistering season in the National Rugby Championship.

Daugunu showed his true potential in 2018 after debuting for the Queensland Reds against the Melbourne Rebels in Round 1. He used the 2018 Super Rugby season as his own personal highlights reel – scoring a total of 37 points including six tries.

A succession of standout performances in Super Rugby saw Daugunu become a regular starter for the Reds during the 2020 season, steering the side to their first final since 2011.

Eligible for the Wallabies via residency, Daugunu is set to earn his first test cap for Australia in the 2020 Rugby Championship.
