Rugby Australia is thrilled to confirm the remaining Wallabies and Buildcorp Wallaroos inbound Tests for the 2022 international season.
The Road to New Zealand for the Buildcorp Wallaroos will continue with a showdown against the Black Ferns for the Laurie O'Reilly Cup, while the Wallabies will host both the Springboks and the All Blacks on home soil in 2022.
Every Wallabies and Buildcorp Wallaroos Test will be ad-free, live and on demand with extended coverage on Stan Sport. Every home Wallabies Test will also be live, free-to-air on the 9Network.
The Buildcorp Wallaroos will take on New Zealand as part of an historic double header at Adelaide Oval on 27 August.
It will be the first time the Wallaroos have played at the iconic venue, with the clash against the Black Ferns another key milestone on their journey to the 2022 Rugby World Cup.
The Buildcorp Wallaroos will also take on New Zealand at Orangetheory Stadium in a stand-alone fixture in Christchurch on 20 August as they look to get their hands on the O'Reilly Cup.
The Wallabies will play Rugby World Cup Champions South Africa in the second match of the double header at Adelaide Oval, their first Test in South Australia since 2004.
The venue was the scene of a Wallabies World Record at the 2003 Rugby World Cup, when the Australians beat Namibia 142-0, in what remains the largest margin of victory in men's Test Rugby.
The two sides will then move to the eastern seaboard where they will meet for a second time the following Saturday, 3 September, in New South Wales at a venue to be confirmed.
Twelve days later on Thursday 15 September, the Wallabies will head to Melbourne to take on the All Blacks in their only Bledisloe Cup Test on home soil this year. The encounter at Marvel Stadium will mark the return of the All Blacks to Melbourne for the first time since 2010.
The Bledisloe will be played in Melbourne in two consecutive years, with the Victorian capital announced as the host for the Australian edition in 2023.
The return clash this year is scheduled for the following Saturday, 24 September, at Eden Park in Auckland.
The home Tests are preceded by a two-week tour in Argentina, where the side will take on Los Pumas in Mendoza and San Juan, on the 6 and 13 of August respectively.
Rugby Australia CEO, Andy Marinos said: “We're extremely pleased to be able to able to confirm our remaining International fixtures on home soil for 2022."
"To host a double header in Adelaide where the Buildcorp Wallaroos will be firmly into their preparation for the Rugby World Cup and the Wallabies who will take on the current Rugby World Cup champion Springboks in what will be a return to Adelaide Oval following their emphatic win against Namibia in the 2003 RWC is an exciting prospect for both teams that will make this an occasion to remember.
"We then move to NSW where we get another opportunity against the Springboks in back to back weekends in front of a rugby starved supporter base that has seen no International rugby for two years.
"The home Rugby Championship fixtures conclude with a unique Thursday night Bledisloe Cup Match at Marvel Stadium in what is another blockbuster international sporting event in Melbourne and we know the sporting public there love to get out and support their national teams.
"We would like to thank all of our partners for their continued support, as well as our State Governments for their ongoing support and co-operation in delivering world-class live events here in Australia.”
Wallabies coach, Dave Rennie said: “To have such high quality Tests in Australia this year is great for our team as we continue to build and gain experience as a group."
"To have matches in most major cities across Australia this year will allow us to connect with more of our supporters and community which is something we value highly as a team."
Buildcorp Wallaroos Head Coach Jay Tregonning said: “Playing the Black Ferns is always a momentous occasion for the team more so now that they are our first opponent in the Rugby World Cup in October.
“The side has always been dedicated to growing the women’s game right across the country and playing in Adelaide only reinforces this.
“Being able to play our second test of the O’Reilly Cup in Adelaide hopefully will inspire a lot of female talent in South Australia to choose rugby and start their own journey towards the Buildcorp Wallaroos.
“Having a double-header with the Wallabies is now something supporters are always excited for and both these tests will combine to create a truly world class event.”
South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas said: “It’s the first time we’ve hosted the Wallabies in almost 20 years, which is great news for rugby fans in South Australia – but also a massive drawcard for visitors to our state who want to come to Adelaide and watch world-class international sport, right here at iconic Adelaide Oval."
“We’re also thrilled to have the Wallaroos play here, in what is the only time both the mens’ and womens’ teams will feature on the same fixture at the same venue in Australia this year.
“These are the kinds of events that drive strong visitation – with more than 30,000 fans expected to attend, filling up our city bars and hotels, and giving the CBD a real energy during the winter months.”
New South Wales Minister for Tourism and Sport, Stuart Ayers said: “As the home of Australian Rugby, I am delighted New South Wales will host the reigning world champion Springboks against our Wallabies and showcase our world-class stadium infrastructure to a global audience."
"This is another great addition to Sydney’s event calendar, with an enviable line-up of exclusive world-class international sporting events over the coming months, including FC Barcelona v A-League All Stars, Duel in the Pool, UCI Road World Championships and the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, which put a spotlight on NSW as the premier sporting events destination of the Asia Pacific.”
Information regarding ticket sales and Hospitality for The Rugby Championship and O'Reilly Cup fixtures will be communicated in due course.
