Rugby Australia (RA) has today announced a sponsorship extension with Australian natural gas company Santos for the next three years that will include a major sponsorship with the Wallabies.

The long-term partnership will see Santos become a major partner of the Wallabies with the Santos logo on the top-back of the playing jersey, starting this weekend in Oita against Japan before extending to the training kit in 2022 as well.

This partnership extends Santos strong relationship with Australian Rugby, which includes sponsorship of the Buildcorp Wallaroos, Queensland Reds, NSW Waratahs,Western Force and Australian Women’s Sevens side.

Santos have brought the partnership with Rugby to life thanks to the hugely successful ‘Santos Festival of Rugby’ which was held in Narrabri, NSW this year and will come to Roma in Queensland in February 2022.

RA CEO Andy Marinos said: “We are excited to expand our association with Santos following our partnership with the Buildcorp Wallaroos and Australian Women’s Sevens side, where we have enjoyed a terrific relationship to date. Thank you to Kevin Gallagher and his team – we are delighted to integrate you further into the Rugby Australia family.

“Santos is and remains very supportive of our vision for the game and is passionate about all Australians enjoying a lifelong connection with Rugby and its values.

“In the immediate future, we’re really looking forward to the Spring Tour which kicks off with the Wallabies’ Test against Japan this weekend before three big weekends against Scotland, England and Wales in the United Kingdom, where anticipation is high that we continue to deliver performances that see us on the right side of the scoreboard,” Marinos said.

Santos Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kevin Gallagher said: “We are proud to be expanding our support for Australian sport through sponsoring the iconic Wallabies on the international stage and we wish them all the best for the Spring Tour.

“Sport brings communities together and promotes healthy living. The Santos Festival of Rugby is an opportunity for rural and regional communities to connect with Rugby at its very best and attracts tourists, boosting trade for local businesses,” Mr Gallagher said.

“Our partnerships focus on the regional communities where we operate, they focus on bringing people together and on giving kids experiences and opportunities to get involved in sport by learning from the best in the game.”

A proudly Australian company, Santos is a natural gas supplier, leading the energy transition to clean fuels to improve the lives of people in Australia and Asia.

Santos has been safely and sustainably developing natural gas in rural and regional Australia for more than 50 years, working in partnership with local communities, providing jobs and business opportunities.
