Wallabies great Matt Burke believes the current squad can mirror the success of the last team to defeat the Lions as they begin the build towards a crucial period of Rugby.
Burke spoke at the 100-day countdown to the first Lions Test on July 19 after helping the Wallabies defeat the Lions in 2001.

The event is one of the key pillars in the 'Golden Decade, ' which includes the 2027 and 2029 Rugby World Cups in Australia and the 2032 Olympics.
Burke believes the team is set up to mirror the success his squad had in the late 1990s, taking out the 1999 World Cup on top of the Lions tour.
"I'm loving what all the teams are producing at Super Rugby at the moment," he said to reporters.
"There's some great football being played, plus there's competition for spots, which is one of the great things about it.
"When you're looking at the run, and it's an incredible run these guys have...I'm excited. I'm looking forward to what these guys are doing."
Burke understands the Wallabies will be underdogs heading into the Tests but believes they have cohesion on their side.
It came after the Home Nations watched as France took out the Six Nations.
"You can't write off an Aussie spirit and most often times we punch above our weight," he said.
"With the way (the Six Nations) finished this year with Ireland not winning, they've got to choose some more players from elsewhere...all of a sudden, it's a really difficult proposition then to get a culminating team to be able to thrive and be cohesive.
"It doesn't matter who they throw out. (The Wallabies) have to play well, and that's the great thing about it. When you throw that jersey on, there's no denying the spirit that comes out in there and then it culminates with playing at home and having an Aussie crowd support you.
"It is quite the moment to be a part of."
