Wallabies captain Michael Hooper details his ideal itinerary for a day out in his home town of Manly.

6:30am - Wake up and walk George (French bulldog) around to Shelly Beach for a quick dip.

8:00am - Coffee at Bower Café (double flat white) followed by Breakfast the Boathouse – has to be poached eggs.

9:00am - Head down the Village Green (Manly Oval) for a run and a bit of training.

10:00am - Head back to the water for recovery with a surf at Bower or a swim halfway between Shelly and Manly – avoid Hodgey, who’s lost his shirt again, in his budgy smugglers.

11:30am - Grab a light snack on the way home from Rollas Café – get the monkey bread (you’ll have to try it to find out what it is).

12:30pm - Catch up with some mates at the Skiff Club for a few cold ones off the tap.

2:00pm - Mid-afternoon head out for a late lunch with Kate (wife) and our mates to Hugos Café – shared platters and pizzas are on the money.

4:00pm - Pick up a treat on the way home – don’t forget one for George.

Secret spots:

  • Little Manly is a nice, quiet spot for a dip.
  • Fairlight Butcher and café for good quality meats and coffee.
  • North Steyne Emporio for your sandwiches and juices
