Rugby Australia and the NSW Waratahs are thrilled to announce Jake Gordon has signed a two-year contract extension to remain with Australian Rugby until the end of 2025.

Wallaby number 935 and the current NSW captain, Gordon is the latest in a long list of key re-signings who are committed until at least the 2025 British and Irish Lions Tour of Australia.

The 29-year-old made his Test debut under Michael Cheika against Italy in Padova in 2018 before becoming a regular under Dave Rennie's Wallabies' tenure having now pulled on the gold jersey on 20 occasions.

A product of the NSW pathways, Gordon attended Blackwattle Bay High School and played for Canterbury Juniors, before representing Sydney University in the Shute Shield, and the NSW Country Eagles in the National Rugby Championship.

The scrumhalf has been an integral member of the Waratahs squad since making his debut in 2017, scoring 25 tries in his 78 appearances for the team.

He was appointed captain of the side ahead of the 2021 season and has led the team with distinction on and off the field. The Waratahs skipper has been one of the most consistent performers in Super Rugby over the past two seasons and was awarded the Waratahs best back for their 2021 and 2022 campaigns.

Wallabies and NSW Waratahs scrumhalf Jake Gordon said: "I'm really excited to be re-signing with the Waratahs and Australian Rugby for another two years."

"I've been fortunate enough to play for this team for a number of years now and I believe that we have a group of players and coaches who are all committed to building something special here in New South Wales.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time for Australian Rugby and something that I’m desperate to continue to be a part of.

“We’ve got a World Cup this year and a home British Irish Lions tour in 2025, so there’s no place I’d rather be to try and push my claims to wear Wallaby gold.”

Wallabies head coach Eddie Jones said: "Jake is an experienced player and to have him re-sign with Australian Rugby is positive."

"He is a leader at the Waratahs and someone who will be important for them throughout the Super Rugby season."

NSW Waratahs head coach Darren Coleman said: "Jake is a fantastic player, and an even better person."

"He's a natural leader and has done an exceptional job as our captain.

“We're thrilled that he's chosen to remain with the Waratahs for the next two years, and I'm excited to see what he can achieve with this group of players."
